Our first visit to the Bombay Sapphire distillery in northwest Hampshire near Basingstoke after wanting to visit for so long.
We recommend a visit to this unique distillery experience, for gin lovers this is a special place.
Bombay Sapphire’s Discovery Experience
Located at Laverstoke Mill which has a long history spanning 1,000 years.
We did the 1.5 hour Discovery Experience which cost £20.00 (2024) & included:
- A fully-guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill (only available in English)
- Complimentary Gin & Tonic Cocktail
This place was stunning, sitting right on the banks of the river test, and our tour was a very interactive one which we loved. Starting the best way of course, with a gin and tonic which you make yourself before sitting down in their cinema room to watch a film on the company’s history.
Highlight of the tour
Our highlight of the tour had to be their iconic intertwining glasshouses which were like something from a fairy tale, one is tropical and one is Mediterranean and they host some of the botanicals that are used in the famous gin. We found out that their shapes resemble gin flowing out into the river Test and that they have 793 separate panels of which no one is the same.
Finishing up we learnt more about the botanicals used in an interactive session before heading into the distillery area.
Café which is also open to the general public to visit
Gift shop with everything from choccies to cocktail shakers

Turn it into a day out
There are plenty of characterful rural villages nearby too, like Whitchurch, Overton and Kingsclere, as well as walks such as Beacon Hill, and Watership Down to explore the North Wessex Downs.
