The Potting Shed Hyde

Morning coffee at The Potting Shed Hyde☕️🪴

This coffee spot is in Hyde near Fordingbridge, we popped into this spot on one of our adventures as first-time visitors and it was brilliant. All the seating areas are surrounded by lovely plants each with its own quirk, we went through the indoor cafe and out to the back where they have a covered area a bit like a large greenhouse. They serve up brekkies, and lunch and are very popular as we found out with a bit of a wait for drinks as we hit their peak time, we are definitely going to go back for food but perhaps nearer opening time or close.

Dog friendly and popular with cyclists too 🐕🚲

The Daisy Tea Garden

A garden paradise for a coffee in the new Forest…The Daisy Tea Garden 🌼

Nestled on the outskirts of Brockenhurst on the main road into Lymington we love to pop into this garden centre cafe after many years of driving past. We enjoy exploring as it has a garden centre and farm shop run by Setley Ridge Farm Shop and lots of bits and bobs, plants, quirky items and corners to explore as well as the cafe. Setley Ridge is also known for its family-run vineyard.

The blooming Garden Centre and Nursery with a treasure trove of unique garden ornaments and adornments is a great spot to enjoy a coffee at the tea room. They have an indoor and outdoor area to enjoy a drink or light lunch and it’s dog friendly too. The farm shop had tons of local Hampshire produce and also had a great hamper section where you could load up a hamper with goodies as a gift.

The Old Station Tea Rooms

🚂 Welcome to The Old Station Tea Rooms in Holmsley, Hampshire 🎟️🫖

We love paying a visit for a coffee and scone to this lovely tea room in the New Forest which has been converted from a former railway station ticket office. Lovely themed decor, plenty on the menu, warming delicious scones, big outdoor area and love the vintage music which transports us back to another era.

The unique tea room is also perfectly located for walking and exploring the nearby New Forest trails and in particular the Holmsley bike trail which is perfect for families with younger kids! 🚲

Black Wax Coffee & Records

Black Wax Coffee & Records ☕️

Right next to the waterfront in Hythe is the high st with its shops. In the heart of the high st is this independent spot, a part vinyl shop, part coffee spot, we love the cosy vibe and friendly atmosphere. With some original records as the soundtrack, we love to sit and enjoy some coffee, a smoothie and cookies too. 🍪

They also buy and sell used records.

Melleford

Melleford in Milford ☕️

This independent spot does one of the best breakfasts in Hampshire in our book. It’s recently changed name from Saltwater to Melleford as the lovely local owners Becca and Tony have actually re-opened the former premises called Saltwater alongside this spot. Melleford is the name for Milford in the Domesday book so lots of history behind it. It’s located overlooking the village green in the village centre.

They serve up very well-presented dishes, such as smashed avocado and egg on toast, smoked salmon hash amongst others, smoothies are always a hit with the kids and amazing coffees, also lovely with the addition of iced coffee too, perfect for the summer. The décor inside is pretty sheek and colourful, nice staff and friendly. It’s dog-friendly too.

It does get busy at times, so if you want to book a table ahead, you can call on 07726773485 – don’t forget to mention you found out via ourhampshire when doing so!

📍 Melleford – 60 High Street, Milford SO41 0QD

Parking – We parked for one hour free street parking, but you can also park at Sea Road car park SO41 0DA

Soul Cafe

Soul Cafe in Dibden Purlieu, Hampshire ☕️🎨

✨We love stumbling across a hidden gem cafe and in route to visiting The Honeypot Children’s Charity in the New Forest we visited this spot.

It caught our eye on google after a colourful cover image with umbrellas lining the ceiling of the main cafe. It’s tucked away in Dibden Pirlieu and it’s a former chapel building that is over 100 years old.

It’s a community-focused space where at cafe opening times, locals bring in homemade cake in return for a coffee and to give to other visitors to the cafe which we learned from the friendly staff who were very welcoming. On ordering a coffee, and looking to pay they mentioned it’s a volunteer-run cafe with the drinks and cakes free to visitors or an optional donation.

⏱️Saturdays and Thursdays cafe 10-12:30 – very specific opening times.

🎨They regularly host art groups and projects and many of the pieces adorne the wall.

☕️They serve up Southampton based Mozzo coffee

Always a pleasant surprise to come across friendly spaces and friendly people of Hampshire 😀

Hockeys Farm Shop

Epic ploughman’s at Hockey’s Farm Shop😍🧀🧅

This is a lovely farm shop and cafe nestled in the countryside near Fordingbridge. It’s a family run farm too 👏🏽🌳

It has a very interesting vibe… lovely outdoor seating options which includes by a thatched cottage and by their aviary full of colourful birds, a farm shop with a butchers and lots of local produce. An array of farm animals are also onsite, so go say hello, a jumble shop with knick knacks. From pigs, chickens, donkeys, ducks to alpacas. 🐷🦆🐔

They serve up tasty breakfast, lunch and we love their coffee, deluxe hot choccies and a cinnamon bun whilst sitting in the covered outdoor area with funky furniture and rustic decorations. It’s dog friendly too 🐶
We are glad we popped in and we will be back! Rockford Common is just down the road which is worth a visit too to make a great day out 😄
