Paws for Thought Cat Café

We always enjoy a visit to this feline-friendly spot in the heart of Romsey. We’ve visited a dog cafe in Cambodia before, and we can say cat cafés have a much more calming atmosphere!

The café has eight cats who wander around, nap away, and mooch as you can enjoy a coffee or (in our case) a delicious luxury hot chocolate in a suitably themed cat mug. Homemade cake to accompany of course. The café is separated into four separate seating areas and you will be shown to your table by the friendly staff. The kids loved the experience. There is an outdoor area for nice weather days.

You pay £5/pp (2024) to visit for an hour to support the fantastic work they do rescuing stray cats from the local area as well as fostering cats. Food and drink are billed at the end of your visit. Children aged 6 and up are allowed in the café. Afternoon tea packages are also available.

Headlands Farm Coffee Shop

This one is actually just outside Romsey, in West Wellow.

Always enjoy stumbling across nice coffee spots when en route to somewhere else so this was a great find. The green garden, with apple trees, was a peaceful place to sit and enjoy a drink and cake.

Sometimes people ask us how we find these hidden gems; some we get from recommendations and seeing other posts, others via a bit of research whilst this one was a simple search on route via Google Maps and we always tend to opt for farm shop cafés as they tend to have a bit of character and are particularly nice in the summer…

Josie’s

Josie’s is always on our radar, luckily, being a group of independents, they have six coffee shops dotted across Hampshire.

They have great coffee, tea, and smoothies for the kids to enjoy, and have a solid all-day breakfast and brunch if you need more than a caffeine fix.

Lemon and Jinja

This spot is not only cosy, it’s also Romsey’s only plant-based café!

Based in an industrial estate it is a hidden gem for sure. The interior has been turned into a light, bright green space with lots of cosy corners to enjoy a coffee and catch up with friends and family.

The owner Jess, set up in 2018, moved into a shop 2019 and after growing moved into their larger premises where they are today. Jess and her team are very passionate about the zero-waste movement, they’re a friendly approachable bunch too so happy to answer any questions you have.

We would recommend they plant-based GIANT Biscoff croissant…
