Lymington is perfect for a summer’s day out with the family, walk the marshes, grab lunch, and pick your own would be our go-to!
A 7km family walk at Lymington Marshes
This is a brilliant circular walk with plenty on route for kids to keep entertained and enjoy! Walk along the Quayside for river views followed by the coastal marshes of the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve. We took a leisurely pace with plenty of stops and it took us around 3 hours.
We grabbed coffee and pastries from the Saturday market and one of the many pasty shops on the high street and sat in the sunshine on the quayside. We also enjoyed a 50p โbaby coneโ from our fave ice cream takeaway spot at the bottom of the cobbled st towards the quayside.
Start/finish: Lymington Town Railway Station, SO41 9AU, or one of the many car parks around the centre
Distance: Around 4 miles or 6-7km
Local facilities: Public toilets in Lymington, near St Barbe Museum. Train and bus transport to start of walk
Accessibility: Easy walk along level ground

Vegan lunch at The Tinkers Granddaughter
New vegan spot in Lymington, Hampshireโฆ The Tinkers Granddaughter
With a funky name and located right on the high street of the New Forest location, we visited this lovely plant-based eatery and cafรฉ spot over the weekend for lunch. Welcome in by the friendly staff, itโs beautifully decorated and a nice space to sit and enjoy food and drink. Itโs got an upstairs area as well as an outdoor space which catches the sun around lunchtime, good timing!
We enjoyed their famous deli salad bar with a warm quiche and river in for some sweet treats which included a cinnamon bun, a dirty chai latte croissant custard pudding which we had to have with a chai latte of course! The surroundings of the deli bar include a bookshelf with vegan cookbooks and corners with lots of goodies from wine to handmade chocolate and locally made hardware.
They also host monthly supper clubs, workshops, and events. Did we mention itโs dog-friendly too?

Pick-your-own cherries at Goodall’s Farm
Goodall’s farm is just outside of Lymington and is great for PYO!
There are less than ten spots in the UK where you can do cherry picking and we have one here in our lovely County. Head there when the season opens; they don’t last long so you will have to be quick!
The kids love this place. At the time of our visit, there was a large hanger with the cherries in to explore which felt like a bit of a jungle adventure. We were advised the redder the cherries were, the more ripe and there were plenty of them. The farm also had strawberries for picking which we also just had to get stuck into!
Open every day 9am to 5pm and 10 to 5 Sundays.
